So last night I was on skype with my wife and kids and I asked my 5 year old (william) (mainly cause he is the only one that can talk clear enough) if he was going to stay up late and wait for Santa. His response suprised me. He said " yes dad in two weeks I will wait for santa to come to bring me buzz and woody." Now it strikes me as funny first cause according to him Christmas isn't for another two weeks. (boy will he be surpised in a couple days) I have though figured it out what he was talking about. I had told him I had mailed his new talking book to him (toy story 3 buzz and woody of course) and that it would take about 2 weeks to get there. Now I have to ask myself the question. Does he already know and understand that there is no Santa Claus and that it is mommy and daddy? Oh well if he is anything like me he will deny that he already knows who santa claus is for fear of not getting presents.
As for the first part of of the title "TIPS" I am surpised at the world. I have been plagued by seeing some suprising things with the world and how people give tips for services. For example When someone goes in to a restaraunt and thier meal is like 25 bucks. So they tip their waitress like 3 or 4 bucks. Now they walk into a beauty salon or barber shop and get a haircut that can last anywhere from 5 mins to 30 mins and thier tip is anywhere from 3 bucks up to 20. For a hiar cut, really. A food service is performed to feed your belly and the waitress is carring that food to you so you can eat and you are paying her a couple bucks. Yet someone cuts your hair and you them a huge amount because they cut your hair. I don't see the relation there. I guess we are vain inn this world we care more about our appearneces than we do anything else. Don't get me wrong if you are hiar stylist and people want to give you more money for services rendered fine. I just don't see how someone can justify to themselves giving a 5 dollar tip for a 25 dollar meal and a 10 dollar tip for a 15 dollar haircut. Th differnece is a 20% tip versus a 65.9% tip. So the less money you spend the more you have to tip. Just one of those things I just don't get. I don't personally think there should be a standard but I think one should consider the amount they are giving and who they are giving it to for the services rendered. Consider the differences in the tasks being performed and then give according to that.
