Ahh the age old topic Religion

I was reading a blog from a friend today and she was talking about church and missionaries and I was reminded of a constant conversation I have had with another friend on the view point of religion. I am LDS Mormon, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. No we are not the devil in disguise although some would have you believe that. He has brought up some very interesting points, not just about my church but religion as a whole. Although I do understand his logic and see how he came to that conclusion, I don't necesarrily believe that way. On some things about religion I do agree with him. Some people just take things a little to far. 1. religion's (plural) is a multimillion dollar business. First its tax free, second I'll us a life expeience to illustrate my point. I went to church with one of my brothers don't rememeber the name it was a small new church in the area. The preacher talked a pretty good talk. Some of the things he said I had to really question what I was hearing but what really opened my eyes was when the offering plate was being passed around something caught my eye. The money of course not just 5's, 1's but 20's and a couple 100's. This samll church had a congregation of about 50. I started doing the math and realized that something was really out place. Then I started looking at the preacher and the suits and clothes he wore. Thats when I realized that most church's are nothing more than a business. Don't get me wrong not saying they all are cause they aren't I know a couple including my own church that it doesn't worry about the money it worries about the people and how they are going to help them.

My point to this is that church isnt supposed to be complicated, its so supposed to be a gathering place, meeting house, for worship and fellowship. The teachings are to be simple in nature. Yes there are those that could expound for days on subject and everyone is either so lost with to much information given to them or they are asleep.

I have a different view do I believe 100% everything I am told. No. Why? simple cause the mysteries of the universe is just simply that mysteries. Why try to explain something you can never possibly explain. You can theorize all day long on what heaven is like but you'll never know until you get there and unfortunately you really won't be able to communicate back to anyone and let them know what it is really like cause its a one way trip. That why they call it a mystery. It is what it is. Its what you want to believe it is. Most of our views in life are based in part on non-factual evidence. Things that so called experts have said. The problem is that, that is from there viewpoint that it is right.

I was asked about my viewpoint as to if I see the logic of why I believe in something I can neither factually prove or see, then why believe in it. Simple to believe in something you don't need factual evidence or see the actual being, item, or thing. You just have to have faith that what you believe in is there. If it turns out that the belief you had for your entire life is wrong in the end, oh well its wrong. I had a great ride while it lasted. Right wrong does it really matter am i suddenly going to explode into a million bits for the fact that i believed in something else. No. I have never been really scared of death anyhow. Its an absolute. Which there are only 3 true absolutes in life, there are others that come close but the true 3 are. Birth, life, death. its going to happen you can't do anything about it to change it why worry about it.
So to my viewpoints that were in question

Do I believe in Jesus and that he walked the face of the earth. Yeah
Do I believe that one day again he will return. Sure
Do I believe that sometimes when you pray that certain things will happen and they do that it was the power of the Lord making it happen. Yeah I do (explain to me what else it could be, what the cosmos suddenly aligned and the all the individuals that were needed to make that certain thing happen were all in the exact place they needed to be at the exact time and had the exact thoughts that what you wanted is what you needed and therfore they would grant you that. lets be realistic would take a higher being with far more power than us earthlings to make that happpen. Shoot if you want to try to prove it otherwise take our government and what they go through just to make a decsion. You really think 100 people would come together at an exact moment in time and have the exact same conclusion to grant you what it was you needed, thus the logic suggests the presecence of a higher being)

Enough said!
