Like father like son

They say your children are an exact representation of what you are. Ok well not all are but for the most part children tend to act like their parents. As I was told by my father I would be paid back when I had children for they would be just as stubborn and sarcastic as I was growing up. As you can see by the picture my 5 Year old (William) loves to be like his father. Daddy after all is his buddy. To say he is doesn't act like me or act like I did when I was younger would be like saying the grass isn't green.

So I was talking with the wife on the phone and she relayed to me something of the things he has been doing. She was sending him to school the other day and told him that she loved him. His reply "I know mom" , Then again the other night she was getting them ready for bed and she told him again I love you. His reply " You already told me."  Wow guess I should have warned my wife one day this would happen, he would see the world as I do.  How many times do I have to really say something for someone understand what I am saying. Don't get me wrong I understand the value of words or rather certain words. Like I love you, be safe, and take care. They are terms of endearment and in the most hectic of situations they can be used to comfort someone or give someone just a glimmer of hope. Which is sometimes all that is needed for some one to feel as if they do matter in this world. I just tend to think there is so much else out there that we constantly barrage people with that really doesn't need to be said. Talking for the sake of talking can really get annoying. Anyway
I should mention my oldest David who definitely represents my attitude when it comes to a great many things. We ask him to do something and his reply is simple. "UNH  UHH" as in no way, forget, I aint doing it. No that I have an attitude of I don't want to do something but as mentioned before in my posts if I feel strongly about it getting me to change my mind is a very difficult undertaking.
Don't get me wrong my kids are relatively good. I can take them in to restaurants and they sit there eat their food and for the most part are well behaved. Unlike many a children I have seen who are running around every where causing mayhem. My boys don't, I have been told they are perfect angels at restaurants. I just laugh cause when we get home, those perfect little angels are now a parents worst nightmare. I refer you to  youtube and the mom song cause it is what my wife does go through on a daily basis (follow this link click on it) Mom song   My wife goes through this all the time and I feel for her.
Children are the best though, they remind us of the the things we used to do and the fun we had. Although I must say that I have watch my children do some of the crazy things I did as a kid and have said on many occasion " I never would have thought of doing it that way."  To say my children surprise me is an understatement. For instance I never recall flipping my self off a couch backwards(William). I never remember going down a set of stairs head first(Benjamin). My kids do some crazy things. Running through the house while looking over his shoulder and never running into anything. (David) Yes he has the house memorized and knows where every turn is.  At least I can say my kids haven't called me old yet (of course having two that don't talk and one that is 50% speech delayed helps that) Until the next time enjoy life.
